What's new in Campgrounder
⚡ Live availability, straight from Recreation.gov
Over 100 federal campgrounds now show how many sites are actually open tonight, refreshed every 15 minutes from Recreation.gov's live data. When Yosemite says zero, you'll know before you drive. Look for the pulsing green dot on any federal listing.
🔔 Cancellation Watch
Full campground? Watch it. Pick your dates on any sold-out federal camp and we'll email you the moment a site opens — checked against live data, at most one email every 12 hours, one-tap unsubscribe. Cancellations go fast. Now they go to you.
🏕 The Big 30
Don't know where to start? The home screen now ranks North America's most-booked camps — #1 Yosemite Valley to #30 Porcupine Mountains, with Banff, Pacific Rim, and Algonquin holding it down for Canada. Tap any of the thirty and go.
🧭 Booking that lands where you're going
Tap "Check Availability" on any state park and arrive at your state's real reservation system. For 116 parks across 18 states you land directly on that park's own reservation page — site map, dates and all. Everywhere else, your campground's name arrives pre-filled. No retyping, ever.
🔥 Wildfire Watch, sharper eyes
Fire data now comes from NIFC's official live incident feed — newest fires first, prescribed burns filtered out, Canadian border fires counted too. And when a fire is big, barely contained, or growing fast near bookable camps, a Camper's Caution says so plainly, on the home map and right on affected listings.
🌄 Smaller joys
A new Featured Spot every day. A dusk photo moment halfway down every listing, carrying a line that's true about that camp. Forty-seven new campgrounds across seventeen underserved states. Brighter, more readable text everywhere — especially outside in daylight, where it matters. And search now knows every state: type "VT" and get all of Vermont, plus worthy spots just across the border.
All of it is live today, on the web and in the iOS app — no update required.
