Plain answers to the things campers actually ask. And when you'd rather talk to a person, a real one reads every message.
A camping app that knows the place you want to camp, knows the conditions, and helps you get there. Search campgrounds across the US and Canada, see what's open, check fire rules and the forecast at the campsite, then book on the official site.
Yes. Searching, every listing, live availability, weather, wildfire and closure information, and booking links are free to use. Free also includes one Cancellation Watch and fire alerts on one saved camp.
Campgrounder+ is the optional membership for people who plan a lot of trips. See what it adds.
No. Your saved camps, trips and logbook live on your device. Alerts only need an email address. Signing in is optional and only adds syncing across devices and posting photos.
No. You book on the official reservation site, like Recreation.gov or the state park's own system, and pay them directly. We never touch your reservation or your payment for it.
Type a place, a park or a feeling. "Bend OR", "Zion", "lake camping near Seattle" and "quiet forest camp" all work. Every town one of our campgrounds sits in is a place you can search, and adding the state code ("Manzanita OR") keeps results in that state.
Open the map and pick a 1, 2 or 3 hour drive, or tap Draw and trace the area you want with your finger. Drawing and drive times are part of Campgrounder+.
For campgrounds on Recreation.gov, availability is pulled live when you look. If we can't reach it, you'll see a dash instead of a guess. State and private parks run their own systems, so we link you straight to them.
No, and no camping app can. Federal campgrounds are booked on Recreation.gov and state parks on their own systems. We take you to the right booking page with your dates filled in where the site allows it.
Tell us. Report it here with the campground name and what's off. Prices and seasons change, so we check every report against the official source and fix it.
When we don't know something, we say so instead of guessing. Availability is live or shown as a dash. Accessibility is checked by hand against the agency's own documents. Fire rules link to the official order. See the full list.
On a sold-out campground, tap Watch, pick your dates and enter your email. We check for openings and email you when a site frees up inside your dates, with a link to the booking page. We only write when there's something new, never twice for the same opening.
Free covers one camp, checked every hour. Campgrounder+ covers every camp you want, checked every five minutes.
Popular campgrounds open new dates months ahead, often at 7 AM Pacific, and the good sites go fast. Pick the nights you want, even six months out, and we email you the evening before they open. When they do open with a site free, we email again. Booking Day is part of Campgrounder+.
Save a camp and turn on alerts. When a wildfire, a burn ban or a closure order lands near it, we email you. Everyone can turn this on for one camp (we send a confirmation email first). Campgrounder+ covers every camp you save.
One email three days before your trip: the forecast for each night at the campsite, air quality, stargazing odds, any fire or closure nearby, and a short pack list. Free covers one trip; Campgrounder+ covers every trip.
1. Check spam and Promotions. Emails come from hello@campgrounder.io. Mark one "not spam" and the rest follow.
2. Add hello@campgrounder.io to your contacts. That's the most reliable fix on Gmail and iCloud.
3. Check the address. A typo means alerts go nowhere. Set the watch again with the right email.
Still nothing? Tell us which camp and dates and we'll look.
Every alert email has a one-tap link at the bottom to stop it. You can also remove watches from the app.
No. Automated booking breaks Recreation.gov's rules, and we won't do it. We get you to the page first with your dates ready; the booking is yours.
The founding price is $24.99 a year, and it stays that way as long as you're a member. People who join later pay $34.99 a year. Every membership starts with a 14-day free trial.
Everything opens on day one for $0. We email you a reminder on day 7. On day 14 your yearly membership begins. Cancel any time before then and you're never charged.
From Profile in the app, or on the billing page with the email you joined with. You keep Campgrounder+ until the end of the period you've paid for, and it doesn't renew. Your saved camps, logbook and the free app stay exactly as they were.
Yes. Once before the trial ends, and again before every yearly renewal.
If you're charged a renewal you didn't mean to keep, email us within 14 days of the charge and we'll refund it. Where the law where you live gives you more refund rights, those apply too. The full terms are here.
This happens with a new phone, a cleared browser, or paying on one device and camping with another. Get a restore link: enter the email you joined with and we'll send a one-tap link that turns it on. On iPhone, open the link on the phone with the app and it opens right in the app.
In the US, yes. Tapping Start your free trial opens a secure checkout in Safari, and Campgrounder+ turns on when you come back to the app. Elsewhere, Apple's rules mean the app can't link to it yet.
Yes. Use the restore link on each phone, tablet or browser you use.
Without signing in, your saved camps, trips and logbook stay on your device. If you set an alert, we keep your email and what you asked us to watch, and nothing else. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card. Read the privacy policy.
Only to sync across devices and to post photos from your trips. Signing in is a one-time link to your email, no password. Photos are reviewed before they appear on a listing.
Data on your device clears when you delete the app or clear the browser's site data. For anything we hold, like alerts or a synced account, ask us here and we'll delete it.
No.
On the App Store. It's the same Campgrounder, with your saved trips in your pocket.
It's in testing. Until then, Campgrounder works in any phone browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.
Save your reservation to a trip card and it stays on your phone, so the site number and details are there when the bars run out. Live things like availability and the forecast need a connection.
The app supports keyboard navigation and screen readers and has a light theme for bright sun. For camping itself, we checked campground accessibility by hand against agency documents. See the accessible camping guide. If anything is hard to use, tell us.
Log the nights you camp and they fill your logbook. Patches are earned along the way, for things like your first trip or camping under dark skies. It's a record of your camping life, kept on your device.
Pick what it's about, write a few lines, and it lands in a real inbox. We reply within 48 hours.
