The Idea

The outdoors shouldn't require a spreadsheet. Recreation.gov, state parks, private sites, BLM land — each with its own system, its own calendar, its own friction. We built Campgrounder to fix that.

One honest place to browse, decide, and go. No algorithm nudging you somewhere you don't want to be. Just trees, trails, and the cleanest path between you and them.

Curation
Every listing is worth finding. Nothing is promoted or paid for.

Born in the PNW.
Built for Everywhere.
Started under tall firs and grey skies in the Pacific Northwest. Designed for every forest, desert, canyon, and shoreline that comes after.
What's Next
Live Availability
Real-time site counts from Recreation.gov — coming first to the 87 national park and federal campgrounds already in our database.
🔔
Cancellation Watcher
Watch any sold-out campground and get a text the moment a site opens. Yosemite in July. Glacier in August. We'll be faster than any bot.
🤖
AI Trip Builder
Tell us what you want — "four nights in the Cascades, dog-friendly, under $30, good stars" — and we'll build the itinerary, including drive time and weather.
🗺
Offline Maps
Cache your saved camps for offline use. No signal? No problem. Your sites, trails, and coordinates — available without a bar of cell service.
📸
Community Photos
Real photos from real campers. Know what the view from site 14 actually looks like before you book. Crowd-sourced truth over stock imagery.
💬
Local Intel
Crowd-sourced tips from people who've actually been there — the quiet loop, the spots closest to water, what to avoid on holiday weekends.
🔥
Wildfire Watch ✓
Live fire data from NASA EONET and NIFC — active fires mapped nationwide, with state-level breakdowns. Already on the home screen.

Contextual placement for outdoor gear brands — shown alongside relevant campground types. A stove brand appears on BLM sites. A cooler brand on car camping spots. High-intent, honest placement. No banner ads. Ever.

Affiliate Partnership
Amazon Associates is live and contextual gear picks ship with every campground. Open to direct affiliate relationships with REI, Backcountry, or brand-direct programs. Users are planning a trip — conversion intent is real.

1. Information We Collect

Campgrounder collects anonymous usage data through Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics. This includes pages visited, time spent, device type, browser, and approximate location (country/region level). We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it to us.

2. How We Use Information

Usage data is used solely to understand how people interact with Campgrounder and to improve the product. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond product analytics.

3. Cookies

We use cookies only for essential functionality and anonymous analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some features.

4. Third-Party Services

Campgrounder uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies: Google Analytics (analytics.google.com/policies/privacy), Vercel (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy), Unsplash (unsplash.com/privacy), and Leaflet/OpenStreetMap (openstreetmap.org/privacy). Booking links direct you to third-party platforms (Recreation.gov, Reserve America, Hipcamp, etc.) — we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

TERMS OF
SERVICE
Effective date: June 1, 2025
The Short Version

Campgrounder is a free discovery tool. Campground information — prices, availability, ratings — is curated and approximate. Always verify details directly with the campground or booking platform before you go. We're not liable for errors or decisions made based on this information.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Campgrounder (campgrounder.io), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms apply to all visitors and users of the service.

2. Informational Use Only

Campgrounder provides campground discovery information for reference purposes only. Pricing, site availability, amenity listings, ratings, and all other campground data are curated estimates and may be out of date, inaccurate, or incomplete. Campgrounder makes no guarantee of accuracy. Users are solely responsible for verifying all information directly with campgrounds, land management agencies, or booking platforms before making reservations or travel plans.

3. No Warranties

Campgrounder is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of any content on the site.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Campgrounder and Moss and Fog Media shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to: inaccurate campground information, failed bookings, travel disruptions, or reliance on pricing or availability data displayed on this site.

5. Third-Party Booking Links

Campgrounder links to third-party booking platforms including Recreation.gov, Reserve America, Hipcamp, Glamping Hub, and others. These platforms have their own terms of service, privacy policies, and cancellation policies. Campgrounder is not responsible for third-party platform policies, booking errors, or the quality of campgrounds booked through external links.

6. Affiliate & Referral Disclosure

Campgrounder participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. Gear Picks shown in the pack list use affiliate links tagged with our Associates ID. Campgrounder also may earn referral credits when users sign up for third-party services through links on this site, including Starlink (satellite internet). These relationships do not affect our editorial decisions — we only recommend gear and services we'd genuinely use. Affiliate links are clearly labeled on the site.

7. User-Submitted Content

If you submit campground suggestions to Campgrounder, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, edit, and publish that information.
